Quality Assurance Officer - Children Placements | Barnsley

Barnsley is currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Officer to join their Children's Placements service on a locum basis.

This is a key role focused on ensuring high-quality, safe, and compliant placements for children and young people, through robust QA processes and effective provider oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Quality Assurance visits to residential homes
• Monitor provider performance and ensure compliance with regulations
• Respond confidently to safeguarding concerns and serious issues
• Work closely with LADO and attend Strategy Meetings
• Coordinate due diligence processes and support continuous service improvement
• Liaise with providers to obtain QA documentation and resolve compliance queries
• Work collaboratively with internal teams (Commissioning, Placements, QA, Finance)
• Provide professional advice on QA standards and regulatory expectations

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Reg 44, and safeguarding standards
• Experience within Children's Services (QA, IRO, Conference Chair or similar)
• Ability to analyse performance data and identify trends
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Confident decision-making around compliance and quality standards

Rate: £40 per hour
Location: Barnsley
Contract: Locum

Essential Requirements:

• Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
• At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
• Social Work England Registration
• Driving license and access to own vehicle
