Duties and responsibilities
Teaching
Plan and deliver high-quality art lessons across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, tailored to include all pupils.
Use a variety of techniques and materials to inspire creativity and support pupils’ artistic development.
Assess and report on pupils’ progress in art, maintaining accurate records.
Work collaboratively with class teachers to integrate art within broader curriculum themes where appropriate.
Contribute to the school’s display strategy, supporting visual celebration of pupils’ work across the school environment.
Organise and lead art-related enrichment opportunities (e.g. workshops, visiting artists, exhibitions).
Manage and maintain art resources and materials in line with health and safety standards.
Ensure inclusion and differentiation so that all pupils, including SEND and EAL, can engage and progress in art.
Whole-school organisation, strategy and development
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures and support the school’s vision and values.
Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school, including enrichment opportunities for pupils.
Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure strong outcomes.
Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach

Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment

Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies
Work with the designated safeguarding leads (DSL/DDSLs) to promote the best interests of pupils, including sharing concerns where necessary
Promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school
