Junior Sous Chef – £40,000 per year – Oui Madame, Islington

Oui Madame is a modern European restaurant in the heart of Islington, centred around seasonal ingredients, classical technique, and a menu designed for sharing. Our kitchen focuses on refined but approachable cooking, combining creativity with strong fundamentals and careful attention to detail.

Following a very successful opening, we are now looking for a talented and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team.

This is a great opportunity for a chef who wants to cook at a high level while working in a professional, supportive kitchen environment with a small, focused team.

About the Role

As Junior Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team to support the day-to-day running of the kitchen and ensure consistently high standards across all services.

Our kitchen values organisation, teamwork, and creativity, with a strong emphasis on seasonal produce and thoughtful presentation.

Salary: £40,000 per annum (including service charge)
Hours: 50 hours per week
Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen

  • Maintaining high standards in preparation, cooking, and presentation

  • Running sections confidently during service

  • Ensuring strong food hygiene and kitchen organisation

  • Assisting with ordering, stock control, and waste management

  • Training and supporting junior members of the kitchen team

  • Contributing ideas to menu development and seasonal dishes

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in a quality restaurant, fine dining, or Michelin-level kitchen

  • Strong technical cooking skills and attention to detail

  • Passion for modern European cuisine and seasonal ingredients

  • Calm and organised during busy service

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • A professional and positive attitude in the kitchen

  • Good command of English
