Qualifications and Professional Training

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care/Child Care or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable:

  • Brief Intervention/Motivational interviewing trained

Experience and Knowledge

Essential:

  • 2 years' experience in delivering health care / promotion to children and young people
  • Ability to provide advice and deliver health education sessions to children, parents/ carers and school staff regarding screening, vaccinations, weight management programmes whilst in school or settings.
  • Experience of liaising with other agencies
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Experience of data collection for reports
  • Ability to take a holistic approach to promoting health and wellbeing whilst unsupervised and recognised the need to escalate to senior staff when needed.

  • Good verbal, non verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use email, internet and word processing software
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
